The doorarshan Kendra has featured her programmes from their studios in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, New Delhi and DD national channel

A thematic programme on “Composers of Kerala” directed by her and broadcast from AIR, Bangalore received a Special award for the year 2008.

Performances:

Smt. Neela Ramgopal has been a regular performer of concerts all over the country. She has performed in all major sabhas of Karnataka,T.N,A.P,Mumbai,Kerala,Delhi etc.She is also a regular performer in Chennai during the December  music festival in many sabhas there.She had a successful 16 week tour of USA giving performance a well as teaching carnatic music.

Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan(London,UK) sponsored her to teach, conduct workshops and perform to the students there in 2005 and in 2007 in their summer school as part of their cultural activities.

AWARDS and TITLES:

Smt.Neela is a recipient of many awards and titles.she has received:

1.The best performer award from Sri Krishna gana sabha ,Chennai

2.The best performer award from Madras music academy in 1983

3.A special award for a performance in the Madras music academy in 1997.

4. “Gana prakeerthi” in 1983 Nagarkoil trust

5. “Sangeeta kala samragni”1998 from Ramakrishna sabha,Bangalore

6. “Sangeeta chudamani”from Rama seva mandali-given away by sangeeta kalanidhi Late V.Doraiswamy Iyengar

7.CMANA gave a momento-a mounted plaque and a gold medal –for her “scintillating performance”during her USA visit in 1999.

8. “Karanataka kalashri” from karnataks state government in 2000.

9.The Music academy ,Madras awarded a citation with a gold medal for the best “pallavi”during their music season 2001

10.Bangalore gayan samaj bestowed her with “Sangeeta kala Ratna” in 2003.She presided over their 35’th music conference.

Teaching:

Smt.Neela has been encouraging young talent by teaching students of carnatic music.Many of her students are performing artists.They have been recognized by major organizations in the state. Neela Ramgopal is  also  conducting  online  music lessons for music students as may be required by them.

Neelambari is an organisation of the students of Neela Ramgopal. Neelambari has recorded the 72 Melakartha krithis of different composers rendered by Neela Ramgopal for the benefit of the students of music. These Melakartha krithis have been rendered with the Ragaalapana and Swaraprastaram for their full understanding. These melakartha krithis have been published as 19 cds and released during a function organized by Neelambari in 2005.

Promotion:

Smt.Neela has conducted many workshops and lecture demonstrations in various aspects of carnatic music.She has specifically presented the following:

1.Sri.Muthuswamy Dikhshitar’s Navagraha Krithis

2. Sri.Muthuswamy Dikhshitar’s rare compositions.

3.Sri.Shyama Shastri’s compositions on goddess MEENAKSHI

4.Smt.Ambujam Krishna’s compositions

5.Raga Darshini programme at the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore

6.A special talk in the dept. of music in Bangalore varsity and the Mysore varsity.

7.She has conducted workshop at Bangalore university in march 2003 to teach ragam,tanam,neraval etc.has also ben an external evaluator in the music department in april.

8.She has conducted a workshop –lasting several weeks to teach MELA RAGA KRITHIS of various composers.

9. “Raga anubhava”series for better appreciation of the classical content in the carnatic music is also being implemented on a continuous basis.

Addendum:

Her teaching encompasses all aspects of music that a student should learn.Delineating the structure of the ragam,its limiting contours,the neraval and swaraprastaram aspects that brings out the sahitya bhava integrated with the raga bhava,the lakshiya/lakshana aspects in the rendering of shastriya music are conveyed.The student is encouraged to sing along and to sing alone during teaching session.She has encouraged her students sing along with her during concerts.

Everyday is a busy day, with an individual attention to every student.
